We are different…
…than you might think!
Imagine you enter a Café and you will only encounter young gay and lesbian people. Everyone is having a good time and…. And you talk about everything under the sun, especially about things you are really interested in (What would these things be?).
In the ‘enterpride’ you will find lots of different people – Miss Twiddle, the leather guy, the “bitch”, the effeminate, the nice guy from next door or the girl from the parallel grade. You will meet easily nice young gays and lesbians (between 14 and 26 years), and you will make new friendships and maybe you will find Mr. or Mrs. Right.
‘enterpride’ creates friendships
During our opening hours you will find in the ‘enterpride’ some new and some old friends. Like any other Café you can come and go as you please; and what happens then is all up to you: You can have a drink, listen to music, flirt with the nice guy next to you, play board games, talk about Germany’s next idol, or discuss politics and environment protection, organize with some friends a party or a trip over the weekend… Everything is possible!
‘enterpride’ is what you make of it
You will find some good friends with whom you can talk about your problems and worries. It doesn’t always have to do with your Coming-Out! We support each other with our own experiences in relationships, sexuality and sexual transmitted diseases, problems at school, the new job or the new apartment… And if that is not enough, there are Diane and Torsten, our full-time personnel. During confidential conversation with them, you can find solutions to your problems.
Be different…
… in the ‘enterpride’

Café Vielfalt – The establishment
In the heart of the beautiful city of Essen, only five minutes away from the pedestrian area young gays get together in the youth club “Café Vielfalt”.
The majority of us visit the Café Vielfalt in order to see their friends and meet other young gays and lesbians from the neighbourhood.
Our youth club is more than just an alternative to the gay cafés where you feel like you are on a catwalk as soon as you get in and where as a “new” gay or lesbian you don’t really feel comfortable.
Whereas to our café you can come either alone or with some friends who know that you are gay, if you are still not out or if you are just a little bit shy. We all can remember our “first time” and how it feels like to be new somewhere.
Unlike other youth clubs you can come in and be your gay self. Also, you can forget about the prejudices and clichés towards “queens” and “dikes”. As the German word “Vielfalt” (= diversity) says, you can come and meet a diversity of gay people who are either still going through an “orientation phase” or just interested in getting to know new people.
You can just hang around and talk, or eat and drink something (for a low price), play board games, flirt, talk about your problems, attend or organise events and above all come and go as you like. If it really “hits” you very hard and you need a professional to whom you can talk, you can always count on Marc and Marina. We will treat every conversation confidentially.
Ok then, just come in and enjoy the variety. We are looking forward to meeting you!
